Why Annexation

Being part of the City of Boerne may have many benefits. These include police protection, fire protection, city utilities (water, sewer, garbage collection, and electricity), construction and maintenance of roads and bridges , zoning, permits and code compliance, parks, and several other services(check out the City's website for more information on City services http://www.ci.boerne.tx.us/).

The Tapatio Springs subdivision is an urban community in its service requirements, and very diffrent from the typical rural community seviced by the County. The quality and type of services provided by the City may indeed be more appropriate than those provided by the County.

Currently in Tapatio,

o the County provides fire and police protection, and road maintenance, (County Roads)
o the HOA provides road maintenance (Subdivision roads) and garbage collection
o a privately owned company (KCUC) provides water and sewer services.
o We do not have Building Permits and Code compliance services. The HOA has an
architectural review committee but not inspections and building code compliance.

Yes, there is a cost for these services in the form of increased property taxes. (.4422 per 100 of Assessed Value). However, the increased taxes may be offset by a reduction in the cost of utilities and homeowner insurance (for fire protection improvements). More importantly, property values and basic enjoyment of life might well improve in the presence of a more stable and plentiful water supply, and with the security found in better police and fire protection.

Something needs to be done! Things are getting pretty bad around here.

Rather than using wells, may be Tapatio could get grey water from the City's sewage treatment plant to water the golf course.
